Leslie and I are two people who enjoy married and family life far more than we probably should. We are incessant smilers. We love to laugh. We love people. We love little children. We love the mountains. We love sunny 75 degree days. And we love taking walks on the Poudre River Trail while drinking in the majesty of our God’s creation. We spend a lot of time on the wrap-around porch of our cute yellow house in Windsor, Colorado, with our little kiddos playing at our feet. We love to ride our bikes through our quaint little town and almost always end up at the local malt shop.
In our humble opinion, we have the two most adorable children in world history. Hudson Jack is a boy among boys, a miniature gentleman who has “warrior-poet” scribbled all over him. Yes, he spends most of his days lacquered in dirt, but he is in training for the “muddy and messy” job of rescuing souls, breaking the jaws of miscreants, and setting free the oppressed. Oh, and Harper Grace is a heart-melter. She is a chubby little baby girl in possession of the world’s biggest smile and a laugh that will melt the heart of even the most hardened criminal.
But our life is about more than just Norman Rockwell romance. Every day, we live out the extraordinary adventure of knowing and serving Jesus Christ. Some might consider us to have an unhealthy over-emphasis on Jesus Christ. Spend any amount of time around us, and He seems to be all we really want to talk about and what everything we do in life centers around. Personally, we wouldn’t have it any other way. We absolutely adore our King and, if anything, we feel we need even more of Him in our lives.
Twelve years ago, we embarked upon a crusade to let our generation in on a little-known secret – that a life fully given to the King of the universe is the most blessed, amazing, and incredible existence you could ever choose to live. We have written thirteen books and had the privilege of speaking to countless thousands about a life surrendered to Jesus Christ. We are probably most known for our long-time bestselling relationships book,
When God Writes Your Love Story, and we love to share about the incredible beauty of a romance built by God. In fact, our newest book
Meet Mr. Smith is all about re-discovering God’s ancient blueprint for blissful love, lasting romance, and (ahem) great sex. But our zeal for sharing Truth exceeds beyond just relationships.
Currently, I am working on a book entitled
29, which sums up everything I am most passionate about. I realize that
29 is a rather vague title – but it is certainly not a vague book. It is a book written with a man’s tone, a man’s grit, and a man’s growl for Truth. And if I may be so bold, 29 is the “manly stuff” that the modern Christian world is missing, and if it were to be found again, this world might be turned upside down in a single day. This message is where I live and breathe.
Leslie’s newest project encompasses
her greatest passion point - set-apart femininity. It presents a whole new pattern for the Christian young woman – a blend of Audrey Hepburn grace and dignity with Amy Carmichael sacrifice and devotion. I realize I’m biased, seeing as how it is my wife’s book, but I think Leslie’s message is one that every young woman desperately needs, and it is my hope that this new book will radically transform femininity as we know it today. Leslie’s previous book
Authentic Beauty – the shaping of a set-apart young woman has already made a massive impact and her website
www.authenticgirl.com continues to cultivate a strong network of set-apart young women around the country and the world.
In addition to fighting on the front lines of Christian thought, we relish the opportunity to work with eager young men and women around the world, equipping them in what we refer to as the “Historic Christian” life. This past year we have offered several week-long discipleship training courses, in which we explore the moorings of the vibrant Christian life, and plans are underway for a more permanent discipleship training school based in Colorado.
We are not completely sure what this next season of our life holds. A recent awakening in our heart and ministry is the desire to be Christ’s hands and feet to orphans around the world. God has deposited His Father’s heart for these little ones right smack in the middle of our souls and we can’t get away from it. In the process He has also magnetized our souls to the poor, the oppressed, the widow, the outcast, the imprisoned, the enslaved, and the persecuted. We desire to help our generation find the “spiritual employment” they are seeking, and create practical outlets for young men and women to pour out their lives for the “least of these.” We expect more to unfold in that arena in the very near future – and we may end up living full or part time in a Latin American country. We are excited to see how God will unfold it all.In the meantime, if you are ever in the small town of Windsor and see two lovebirds biking toward the local malt shop with two adorable kids in tow…be sure to stop and say hello.
