When Leslie and I were married back in December of 1994, we had no idea what we were in for. We knew it would be “happily-ever-after beauty” but we didn’t know that we would be writing books and traveling the world talking about “happily-ever-after beauty”. Mere weeks after we returned home from our honeymoon, we found ourselves inundated with requests to come speak on the radio, at schools, in front of churches, and at small group Bible studies about our “unique” love story. Somehow, our romance caught the fancy of a lot of people. Which, in our opinion, makes sense, because we do believe that we are partakers of the most amazing love story of all time (we admittedly are quite biased). But, neither of us had ever heard of a married couple going around and talking about their love story. It just seemed strange and uncom- fortable to us. After all, a love story is a somewhat private matter and to Leslie and I it didn’t seem like the kind of thing that we should be discussing. But it also seemed like God was nudging us forward saying, “this world needs to hear this!”

That was almost thirteen years ago. And what made our love story “a taste of heaven on earth” way back then is the same thing that keeps it intimate and exquisite today - radical dependence upon Jesus Christ. Our love story was (and still is) written by the Author of romance Himself. It was (and still is) breathtaking and beautiful. I strongly encourage you to read our book, When Dreams Come True to hear the full story, but long and short it was a drama only the God of the Universe could script.
